How to be more productive but stay happy?

You know those days when you really don't feel like doing anything? Those days when your calendar is filled with tasks, but you're only able to listen to music or sleep? When you stare at your computer/laptop screen and try to catch your thoughts flying around but fighting with focus. You have the option to go home and sleep or do anything but work, but what do you do if this condition occurs almost every day?

Start with a pause

If you create a routine that you like and that gives you a few moments of peace and relaxation before you get down to business (you know, a cup of coffee, a cigarette, a short game on your phone or scrolling through social media), the day yours will start differently.

To do or not to do?

The famous "to do" list, no matter how much you dislike it, it still somehow gets the job done. It refreshes your memory and….it's so nice to cross off or check off tasks you've already completed! At the end of the day after you look at it, you also have a trace of pride in how productive you were.

Emergency calling

The to do list is not a bad idea. It helps you prioritize your work and gives you ideas for each item on the list. Are you the type of person who solves urgent tasks first or leave them for the last hundred meters?

Multitasking?

You opened a tab and started doing something, in the meantime your colleague asked you to help him with something else, you also remembered that you had to do something urgent, but which would not have taken you much time, and a customer also called you. Sounds familiar? There's probably a bit of smoke above your head... Our brains aren't designed for multitasking, and as a result you just get tired.

P.S. You know those stories that start with one topic and end with another, and you never found out what happened in the first story?

And….pause again

Many business ideas started during a cigarette break. The secret to taking a break is to give your brain some peace, your eyes a different landscape and your body some air. Yes, we know the project is urgent, but Rome wasn't built in a day either. Let's take you with the thought of vacation!

Deadline

Something that isn't creative at all, but can help you finish certain projects faster and more efficiently. Why not do it today, if other, much more interesting projects could come in tomorrow? Or you can take a vacation.

Run Forrest, run!

Of course, you won't run in your office clothes (if you have a dress code), but physical activity has positive influences on your brain. During the day you can hit the gym (because for some people morning sleep is beauty), and if you have a stricter boss, show them some research articles on the subject. Benefits for his company!

Time is money

Try to identify when you are most productive. Some people are mornings, others are night owls. Which category do you fall into?

Nobody is perfect

Try to stop looking for perfection. Every project, no matter how creative it is, will always evoke opinions, either positive or negative. The pursuit of perfection leads to unhappiness, panic and stress, and your customers are often looking for simplicity.

Productivity comes from within, and at a coworking space you have the opportunity to fulfill any of the points above that would suit you better. What will you start with?
